| Music:
What importance does music have for you?
Music is a particular passion for all of us. There are many paralelles in the production and in the feeling music or images can give to the viewer and listener. That’s why work for clubs, musicians and record labels features heavily in our portfolio. If it wasn’t designing, BD would all be popstars… But now it’s visual sound we’re into:-). Please also read question no. 10 under section ’philosophy’.
What do you think about the relationship between the visual design and music itself?
For us, music is the brother of graphic design. Both parts can interact with each other. Each part inspires the other. There are also many paralelles in the production and in the
feeling music or images can give to the viewer and listener. Since graphic design is our profession, music is our favorite hobby. If we could live a second time, BD would be a freestyle-bigband.
What’s your creation process when designing – e.g. a CD cover?
First of all, we need to listen to the music. If we like it – and we like all good music – we’re happy to do the artwork. We try to define the identity, approach and style of the label, record or artist. Listening to the music’s tune is really important to us: It helps us find the design language that will fit best. We try to create it’s visual soundtrack, so to speak.
What is Büro Discotec?
BD’s own disco nights have been spreading love and joy in many cities so far. For further information please read question no. 2 under section ’project’.
